2. Purpose of the Extension

The browser extension "Pro Cockpit for Ring Cam" monitors the live view of your Ring cameras inside your Chrome browser. When the connection drops, it automatically re-establishes it. The extension is an independent third-party product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ring LLC or Amazon.com, Inc.

3. What Data Is Processed (Free Core Features)

The core reconnect feature operates entirely locally in your browser. For it, no personal data is transmitted to us or to any third party. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no user tracking.

Only the following technical information is stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local):

• User preferences (e.g., whether auto-reconnect is active, counter for failed connection attempts)
• A local event log (reconnect events and notification results), kept only in your browser
• Learned camera identifiers that appear in Ring live-view URLs (technical parameters such as lv_d), so that multiple cameras can be recognized
• For Pro users only: your license key and the notification settings you enter (destination email address, and any Telegram bot token, Discord webhook URL, or Pushover keys) — stored locally so the features keep working. These are only sent to the corresponding service as described in section 4 when a notification is triggered.
• For Pro users only, and only if you explicitly opt in: your Ring email address and password, stored AES-GCM-256 encrypted on this device for the optional Auto-Login vault (plus a masked version of the email address, kept locally only to show you which account is stored) — never synchronized and never transmitted to any server (see section 5).

The core preference and camera data above never leaves your computer. The Pro license key and notification settings are also stored locally and are only transmitted as described in section 4, and only when you have enabled the corresponding feature. You can delete all of it at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension's storage in Chrome settings.

4. Optional Pro Features That Transmit Data

Some optional Pro features send a small amount of data to external services — but only after you explicitly enable and configure them. If you do not use these features, no such data is sent.

4.1 License Validation

When you activate a Pro license, the extension sends a SHA-256 hash of your license key (never the key itself) to our license server (ring-cam-pro-license.*.workers.dev, Cloudflare) to confirm the license is valid. The response contains only the plan type and expiry date.

4.2 Email Offline Notifications

If you enable email notifications and enter a destination address, then whenever a camera goes offline the extension sends the following to our email relay (a Cloudflare Worker that forwards the message via the MailChannels email service):

• the destination email address you entered,
• the affected camera's name,
• a short offline-alert message including a timestamp.

This data is used solely to deliver that one notification email. It is not stored beyond what is technically required to send the message and to enforce rate limits (a per-IP/per-recipient counter with a short lifetime). No message content is retained afterwards.

4.3 Other Notification Channels (Telegram, Discord, Pushover)

If you configure Telegram, Discord, or Pushover notifications, the extension sends the offline-alert message (the camera name, and depending on the channel a timestamp) directly to the service and credentials you provided (bot token / webhook URL / user key). This data goes straight from your browser to the respective third-party service under their own privacy policies.

5. Ring Account and Ring Login Credentials

The optional Pro "Auto-Login" feature helps you get signed back in after your Ring session expires. It runs only in the top browser tab on the official Ring login and identity-verification pages (account.ring.com), and works in one of two ways:

• Chrome password manager (default): if you have saved your Ring login in Chrome, the extension only helps focus the login fields and submit the form that Chrome has filled — it never handles, stores, or transmits the credentials itself.
• Encrypted credential vault (optional, explicit opt-in): you may choose to let the extension remember your Ring email address and password on this device. In that case they are stored encrypted with AES-GCM (256-bit) via the WebCrypto API. The encryption key is a key generated in your browser and kept in IndexedDB, stored separately from the encrypted data; it is non-extractable, meaning it cannot be exported as a raw key out of the browser (the extension uses it in place only to decrypt for auto-fill). A masked version of the email address is also stored locally, only so the extension can show you which account is saved. The encrypted data stays in this browser profile only, is never synchronized across devices, and is never transmitted to us or to any server. It is used solely to auto-fill the Ring login form on the official Ring login/identity page. You enable this explicitly (opt-in, shown with a plain-text warning) and can delete it at any time with one click, which removes the encrypted data, the masked email, and the key. Two-factor authentication (2FA) always remains manual.

6. Extension Permissions

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions. Each is purpose-bound, minimal, and transparent:

• storage — to save your local preferences in your browser.
• alarms — to periodically check the live-view status (watchdog).
• activeTab, scripting — to read the live-view status on ring.com and, when needed, click the reconnect button.
• tabCapture, offscreen, downloads — only for the optional Pro one-click recording feature, which saves a recording locally to your computer.
• Access to *.ring.com and account.ring.com — strictly so the extension can work on these domains. No other websites are touched.

7. Cookies and Tracking

The extension does not set any cookies and does not load any external scripts, fonts, or images into its pages. No advertising or tracking takes place — neither by us nor by third parties.

8. Legal Basis (GDPR)

To the extent personal data is processed, it is based on your legitimate interest in a stable camera live view (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, for the optional Pro features in section 4, on your consent given by enabling them (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). The Cloudflare Workers used for license validation and the email relay may process requests on servers outside the EU; Cloudflare and MailChannels act as processors under appropriate safeguards.

9. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. Since we do not maintain user accounts or retain the notification content, these rights in practice reduce to deleting the preferences stored locally in your browser — which you can do yourself at any time — and, for licenses, contacting us at the address below.

10. Changes to This Policy

If the extension changes in a way that affects privacy, this policy will be updated. The current version date is shown at the top of this page.
